My second home

Hi there.
I’ve always liked the countryside since I was a child, and I lived in Yamaguchi prefecture from junior high school through high school because my grandfather had farmed there.
My relatives live there now and I get back there every time I’m asked to do things around the house, and I was asked to do cut grass and trees this time.
I returned there for the first time in two years.
I was also going to refrain from going out anywhere this time because of COVID-19, but I went out to take photos with the thought that I could show you some in here.
First, my second hometown is Hagi city in Yamaguchi prefecture where I lived until high school.
Shoin Yoshida and Hirobumi Ito are famous in history, and Shoin Shrine and Hirobumi Ito’s former residence are a 5-minute walk away from my house.

This is a photo of Hagi Castle Town.

This beach is called “Kikugahama” and I used to go to the beach when I was a kid.
There aren’t that many people here because of COVID-19.
A fireworks display is held here every summer.

This place is a little up from my house, and you can overlook the fireworks from here.

This is Mt. Kasayama and famous for Myojinike Pond that lies at the foot of this mountain, and Camellia Grove.

Many people who visit here enjoy fishing or hiking as well as I used to enjoy fishing and skin diving around here when I was a high schooler.

We cannot fight on an empty stomach, so let me show you some local gourmet food, too.
Some of you may know this restaurant because I often see foreign tourists here, but this is a udon restaurant called “Dondon”, and has been around before I was born, and I think everybody lives in the prefecture knows this restaurant.

Udon with beef and all-you-can-add green onions is the most popular dish in the menu of this restaurant, and I always order Katsudon set, or a bowl of rice topped with slices of deep-fried pork along with udon.
Unfortunately, the junior high school and high school where I graduated have been closed, so this is the only one of my memories.
Lastly, this is a barbecue restaurant called “Midoriya” that serves Kenran Beef.
The first time I went over this restaurant was 2 years ago, and its beef was so tender and great, and I also recommend stone-baked bibimbap in addition to the beef.

It’s a popular restaurant loved by locals, and this time, I couldn’t go there because I couldn’t make a reservation, so I want to go there by making a reservation in advance next time.
