Monkey wrench

It’s raining on and off today in Japan too.

What’s the weather like in your country at this time of year?

It gets cooler if it rains, so it’s better for me as I do physical work.
However, I think both are to blame because it’s muggy if it rains around this time of year.

Now this time and next time, I’m going to pick up two wrenches that I always use at work.

At first time is the monkey wrench.

This wrench can be used turning its dial at our fingertips, so the lower jaw can move up and down to hold and turn any size of bolts and nuts;
I use this for installation of AC and connecting water pipes and gas pipes.

My favorite wrench is the top of the photo,
and this grip is made out of insulated materials, so it’s difficult to get an electric shock.
Since it’s not made of a metal, it doesn’t give me a pain a lot while in use.

Unlike pipe wrenches that I will post about next time and other wrenches,
the jaws of the monkey wrench are smooth, so this tool is suitable for bolts and nuts.
And actually, pipe wrenches were developed based on its basic design,
so there is not much difference between the two.

Also, when you screw or unscrew bolts and nuts, you often need to use two to hold one side of them in place.

I have several wrenches, long and short ones, and long ones are used for when needing a greater strength (the principle of leverage), while short ones can be used for tight spaces.

Precautions of use are that in case the jaws of the monkey wrench aren’t attached to the fastener head tightly (if there is a gap between them), the head might be broken and that you cannot apply a load onto the lower jaw.
(The part of this wrench isn’t very strong against high load. )

We tend to disregard those things when we have to be quick; however, with proper care, those tools are difficult to break and will continue to give you a long service.

As I said above, I’m going to describe pipe wrenches to you all next time,
so if you like, please refer to them too.
